Q: Where or with whom have you painted or studied?

BW: After collegiate studies under John Damm R.A., I went to the Art Students League of New York to study under Robert Brackman, who, at the time, was one of America’s most sought-after teachers of the craft of oil painting. I have since broadened my studies by working under David Leffel, Greg Kreutz, Dan Gerhartz, Hongnian Zhang, Joe Anna Arnett, Matt Smith, William Kalwick Jr., Quang Ho, Ned Mueller and others.

W   Q: What are your favorite themes?

BW: I’m inspired by the beauty revealed in familiar, homespun objects, as well as in nature’s own magnificence.  My style is distinctive impressionistic “alla prima”. I use bold brush strokes and beautiful colors to create striking renditions of people, places, and objects.
